In 2007 Blue Tongue Rugby began with just two teams competing in under 10’s and under 12’s. By the 2012 season, the club fielded 6 sides in under 10s, 11s, 13s, 14s, 15s, and 17s in the Sydney competition with each team comprised of 18 to 22 registered players.

As of 2024, since entering into the Sydney regular season competitions, the junior teams (U10 to Opens) have featured in 24 grand finals of their respective age grade and won 15 of them.

The club has grown to include teams playing in the ‘minis’ competition from under 6’s to under 9’s. These age groups are the future lifeblood of both the junior and senior club teams. Fielding as many as eight teams in a season-spanning under 6’s through to Opens (under 17/18s), the sides play across the wider Sydney metro area for 13 weekends of the regular season spanning March to August. Additional annual carnival competitions are also played depending on team interest such as the Canberra Junior 7s tournament.

Whilst the change is continual of players, coaches, committee and teams, the heart of the club remains constant. To provide a platform for kids of all ages and abilities to play this great game called rugby in the Blue Mountains and surrounds.
